Tucked away among mature trees and lush gardens in Escondido, Green Gables is one of those wedding venues that feels surprisingly removed from the rest of San Diego County. Once you're on the property, the greenery, winding pathways, gardens, and historic character create a setting that feels intimate and secluded.
The Left Coast Quintet has had the opportunity to perform at Green Gables for multiple weddings, providing live music for ceremonies surrounded by the property's beautiful landscaping. It's a particularly nice venue for an acoustic ensemble because the natural setting already creates so much atmosphere. Our job is simply to add the soundtrack.
We've performed everything from traditional wedding selections to modern pop and movie music here, giving couples plenty of ways to make the ceremony sound as personal as the rest of their day.
A Garden Wedding Ceremony in Escondido
One of our favorite things about Green Gables is just how much greenery surrounds the ceremony space. Rather than looking out at buildings, streets, or a traditional hotel ballroom, guests are surrounded by mature trees. gardens, and a cool old schoolhouse.
The ceremony lawn can be transformed quite a bit depending on the couple's style. We've seen floral arches, rows of white chairs, flower petals lining the aisle, and ceremonies tucked beneath the trees. There's even a fountain nestled into the landscaping, adding to the garden atmosphere.
For live musicians, all of that creates a wonderful backdrop. Flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, and bassoon have a warm acoustic sound that fits naturally into an outdoor ceremony without making the setting feel overproduced.
Making the Ceremony Music Your Own
Of course, a beautiful garden doesn't mean you're limited to traditional wedding music.
For one of our Green Gables weddings, our ceremony repertoire ranged from romantic favorites to movie music, and the couple chose Bruno Mars' "Marry You" for their recessional. It's hard to argue with that choice when you've just officially gotten married.
That's one of the things we enjoy most about weddings. Some couples want classical music. Others want Taylor Swift, Marvel, Broadway, video game music, jazz, or a favorite movie soundtrack. Many want a little bit of everything.
With hundreds of arrangements in our music library, we can build a program that feels like your wedding rather than simply working our way through a standard list of ceremony songs.
Because apparently just getting married wasn't enough of an entrance. A horse-drawn carriage certainly makes it memorable.
From the First Guest to the "I Do"
For most weddings, our music begins well before the processional. Prelude music welcomes guests as they arrive and immediately establishes the atmosphere for the ceremony. From there, we coordinate the wedding party processional, the couple's entrances, any music needed during the ceremony, and finally the recessional.
Green Gables works particularly well for this because guests are already immersed in the setting as soon as they take their seats. Live music becomes part of that experience rather than something that suddenly begins when the ceremony starts.
And yes, from our seats we've had a pretty fantastic view of the "I do."
Left Coast Quintet at Green Gables
We've been fortunate to return to Green Gables more than once, and we'd love to come back.
Our full wind quintet of flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, and bassoon offers a distinctive alternative to the string ensembles most couples encounter when searching for wedding music. We can also provide our smaller wind trio when appropriate.
Whether you're planning a romantic garden ceremony filled with classical music, walking down the aisle to a favorite film theme, or sending everyone into cocktail hour with a great pop song, we'll help you create music that fits the celebration.
