What is the Left Coast Quintet?

We are a music ensemble based in San Diego that incorporates the combined sounds of clarinet, flute, oboe, bassoon, and French horn. LCQ is a traditional woodwind quintet with a unique library of music that goes beyond classical music and into pop arrangements, jazz covers, movie & film scores, and much more. We also perform as a trio with clarinet, flute, and bassoon, or as a duet with mixed instruments.

Why choose LCQ over other ensembles in San Diego?

There are many amazing musicians in the area, and some even that travel down from Los Angeles or Orange County to perform here. The Left Coast Quintet provides something that many ensembles can't - professional experience. Each of us have over 25 years performing with symphonies, touring groups, stage productions, or teaching. We have a core group of players that rehearse with each other to develop the unique sounds we provide at each event. We have the experience, we know the venues and the professionals, and are adept at planning for and avoiding any issues that might come up.

Do you learn new songs?

All the time! We have a resident arranger in our group, so we are always getting new music added to our library of songs. If you would like us to learn a new song that we don't already have, we can create a custom arrangement for our quintet. We play everying from movie themes, pop & rock covers, Broadway, jazz, classical, and everything in between, so you might already find music you're excited about in our repertoire!

When should I book LCQ?

The Left Coast Quintet is comprised of only the five musicians you see smiling back at you above; besides our core group there are very few other musicians who perform with us, so we can only book one event at a time. It is best to book us as soon as you have your date and venue selected, and we usually are booked about 6-8 months prior to an event.

What is your pricing?

Understandably, this is an important topic when deciding on what kind of entertainment and ambiance you're looking to provide for your event or wedding, so we love being transparent about our pricing. For one hour (or ceremony only) our quintet typically starts at $850 and our trio starts at $650, but there are many other factors that may add to the rate including event logistics, location, and date. Do you travel outside of San Diego?

We are primarily located in central San Diego and prefer to stay local, but we also regularly travel to south Riverside County (Temecula Wine Country) and Orange County. We can travel further if requested, and travel fees will apply that will coincide with the price of gas to get to your venue.

Should I Hire a String Quartet for My Wedding?

Yes, we know most people think of a traditional string quartet when planning their weddings - and we think our string brethren are amazing musicians with a lot to offer. In fact, we perform alongside them at many symphony concerts and know most of the local professional musicians and groups in San Diego. String quartets are often featured in movies and at celebrity weddings performing the traditional music while wedding parties walk down the aisle.

LCQ offers something different, yet similar. A wind quintet is a traditional classical ensemble, and similar to our string friends we too can elevate the classy at your event by providing some top notch Baroque, Renaissance, and Romantic music. We even perform contemporary classical or current pop songs dressed up to sound more traditional (think Bridgerton). LCQ can go even beyond those options as well, bringing in movie soundtracks from your favorite films, Broadway show themes, and more.

So no, a string quartet is not your only option, and we love working with clients who want something unique and ritzy, but still elegant and beautiful at their event.
