What is the Left Coast Quintet?
Left Coast Quintet is a professional chamber ensemble based in San Diego that blends the vibrant colors of flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon. While our roots are in classical tradition, our repertoire spans classical masterworks, contemporary works, film music, jazz, Broadway, and specially curated thematic programs designed for concert series, museums, and community venues as well as events. We also perform as a trio, duet, or custom ensemble to suit different artistic and event settings. Why choose LCQ over other ensembles in San Diego?
What sets Left Coast Quintet apart is our commitment to musical excellence, artistic vision, and collaborative programming. Our musicians bring decades of orchestral, chamber, and touring experience, making us equally at home in concert halls, galleries, museums, community programs, weddings, and cultural events. We’re a dedicated ensemble that rehearses together regularly, refines our ensemble sound, and builds programs that engage audiences whether for a midday recital or an evening concert series. Do you learn new songs?
All the time! We have a resident arranger and expanding music library that supports both event requests and curated concert programming. If you’d like a piece learned for a specific event, theme, or concert, we can arrange it for our ensemble. Our repertoire includes classical, contemporary, cinematic, jazz, and popular works, and we love designing programs that feel cohesive and expressive. When should I book LCQ?
Left Coast Quintet often books well in advance due to a full performance calendar that includes concerts, series engagements, weddings, and cultural events. We recommend reaching out as soon as you have a date and venue in mind, ideally 3–9 months ahead for most concerts or series, and at least 6 months ahead for popular event dates. Smaller recitals or flexible performance dates may have availability with shorter lead time. |
What is your pricing?
Pricing varies depending on the type of engagement, ensemble configuration, performance length, travel, and program requirements. For events and private celebrations, our quintet and trio options are popular and typically start at competitive rates, with clients usually expecting between $850-$1350 for a booking. For community concerts, recital programs, or collaborative performances with narration or multimedia elements, we provide tailored proposals based on program length and production needs. The best way to get accurate pricing is to contact us with your event or presentation details. Do you travel outside of San Diego?
We are based in central San Diego and regularly perform locally. We also travel throughout Southern California, including Temecula, Orange County, Riverside, and beyond, for concerts, cultural events, and private engagements. Travel fees may apply depending on distance and logistics. If you’re planning a concert or program outside the region, we’d be happy to discuss options that work with your timeline and budget. What makes a wind quintet different from other chamber ensembles?
A wind quintet offers a distinct color palette and sonic versatility that differs from string or mixed ensembles. The blend of winds and horn provides warmth, clarity, and dynamic contrast well suited for thematic programming, contemporary repertoire, soundtracks, and traditional works alike. This makes wind quintets ideal for both curated concert series and designed event music that blends artistic intention with broad audience appeal.
