We've had the opportunity to perform several weddings and special events at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine over the years, and it's one of those venues that can accommodate just about any kind of celebration.
Located near UC San Diego and just a few minutes from the coast, the Hyatt combines the convenience of a full-service hotel with a surprisingly large variety of event spaces. Couples can keep the entire wedding day in one location, while still creating very different settings for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception.
For live music, that gives us plenty of possibilities.
Live Ceremony Music at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla
One of the things we love about performing weddings at the Hyatt is how easily live music can move with the celebration.
Left Coast Quintet can provide music as guests arrive, continue through the ceremony, and then transition into cocktail hour as everyone begins celebrating. Our traditional wind quintet features flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, and bassoon, giving couples a warm and distinctive sound that's quite different from the string ensembles guests are accustomed to hearing at weddings.
For the ceremony itself, we'll help you choose music for each part of the processional, the entrance of the wedding party, the bride or groom's entrance, any special moments during the ceremony, and of course the recessional.
And there really aren't many rules about what that music has to be.
Our library includes hundreds of arrangements ranging from Bach, Mozart, and Debussy to jazz standards, Broadway, pop and rock, Disney and Pixar, Marvel, movie soundtracks, and video game music. We've played everything from elegant classical ceremonies to weddings built around music that has a very personal connection to the couple.

From the Ceremony to Cocktail Hour
Once the ceremony ends, the personality of the music can completely change.
Cocktail hour is where we get to dig deeper into our library and mix things up. We might move from classical music into selections by Taylor Swift, Queen, ABBA, Stevie Wonder, or Coldplay, followed by music from Broadway, jazz standards, or recognizable themes from movies and television.
It's still performed entirely by acoustic wind instruments, so the music adds energy without taking over the room. Guests can talk, grab a drink, catch up with friends and family, and every once in a while suddenly recognize something we're playing.
Those little "wait, is that...?" moments are some of our favorites.
For smaller weddings and more intimate spaces, we can also perform as our wind trio featuring flute, clarinet, and bassoon.
A La Jolla Wedding with Your Own Soundtrack
The Hyatt Regency La Jolla works particularly well for couples planning a larger hotel wedding because there are so many ways to use the property. The hotel offers indoor and outdoor event areas ranging from the open-air Terrace and pool deck to the glass-enclosed La Jolla Ballroom and expansive Regency Ballroom.
That flexibility also makes it easy to create a musical progression throughout the day: something elegant and welcoming while guests arrive, meaningful selections for the ceremony, and then a completely different atmosphere for cocktail hour. If you're planning a wedding at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla, we'd love to help you build a soundtrack that actually feels like the two of you.
