Loews Coronado Bay Resort is a little different from most Coronado wedding venues. Instead of being in the middle of town, it's tucked away farther down the Silver Strand on its own waterfront property, surrounded by San Diego Bay and the Coronado Cays.
We've performed at Loews many times over the years, and it's a property we really enjoy. We've been here for weddings and special events, but Loews has also invited us out for concerts and open rehearsals, so we've gotten to experience the resort in quite a few different ways. And we're always happy for an excuse to come back.
Weddings at Loews Coronado Bay
There are both indoor and outdoor event spaces throughout the resort, but it's hard not to take advantage of the waterfront setting.
Outdoor ceremonies can have San Diego Bay, boats, the Coronado Bridge, and portions of the downtown skyline in the background, depending on where you are on the property. There are also patios and lawns that work well for cocktail hours and other parts of the celebration before everyone heads inside for the reception.
One thing to know about Loews is that you're not right in the middle of Coronado. You'll continue several miles down the Silver Strand after passing through town before reaching the resort. But once you're there, there's really no reason to leave. Guests can stay on property, enjoy the pools and waterfront, grab something to eat or drink, and make a weekend out of it. Downtown Coronado is still close enough to explore, but you don't have the crowds and activity immediately surrounding the hotel.
A beautiful wedding ceremony at Loews Coronado Bay from our string trio days. The instruments have changed since then, but we still love this view.
Live Wedding Music at Loews Coronado Bay
We've performed outdoor wedding ceremonies here with some pretty fantastic views behind us.
Our wind quintet can begin playing as guests arrive, then perform the couple's selections for the wedding party, processional, and recessional. After the ceremony, we can move to cocktail hour and completely change the mood with jazz, Broadway, Disney, movie soundtracks, pop, rock, or whatever else fits the celebration.
That's one of the things we enjoy about weddings at a resort like Loews. The day can move through several different spaces, and the music can move along with it. We've also spent time here performing outside of weddings, including concerts and open rehearsals. That's given us a chance to get to know the property in a way we don't always get to at wedding venues, where we're normally arriving, setting up, performing, packing everything back into the cases, and heading to the next thing.
A Resort We Know Well
After performing here for different kinds of events over the years, including our own community concerts (pictured above!), Loews is one of those venues where we feel very comfortable walking in with our instruments.
We know the property, we've always enjoyed working with the staff, and we know what it's like to perform in the outdoor spaces along the bay.
Those things may not sound particularly exciting when you're planning a wedding, but they matter. When the musicians already know where they're going and what to expect, that's one less thing anyone needs to figure out on the wedding day.
Loews Coronado Bay is a great choice for couples who want a waterfront Coronado wedding but prefer being a little removed from the busiest parts of the island.
And we're always happy when someone gives us another reason to spend the afternoon playing music on the bay.
