Wedding Music at the Mingei Museum
We've had the opportunity to perform at the Mingei Museum in Balboa Park, and this is such a fun venue for couples who want their wedding to feel a little different.
The museum already gives you an incredible backdrop, with art and architecture surrounding your guests instead of a traditional ballroom setting. Add live music to that environment and there are a lot of opportunities to make the ceremony completely your own.

One of our favorite weddings we've performed was right here at the Mingei. Our couple were musicians themselves, and instead of simply choosing a processional and recessional, they built music into the story of their entire ceremony.
We started with about 30 minutes of music as guests arrived, including Married Life from Up, Puttin' on the Ritz, Anything Goes from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Clarinet Marmalade.
Then the ceremony began with a custom arrangement of the theme from Downton Abbey. But this is where things got really fun.
Their officiant told the story of their relationship, and at different points throughout the ceremony, the story would stop and we would perform music connected to that particular moment in their lives. A story about seeing Rhapsody in Blue together led directly into the famous opening clarinet solo. Their shared love of opera brought in Mozart's Marriage of Figaro.
Altogether, we performed around seven different musical moments during the ceremony before finishing with Hevenu Shalom Aleichem, with their guests clapping along as the celebration began.
It was creative, personal, a little unconventional, and an absolute blast for us to perform.

Our wind quintet performs everything from classical music and jazz to Broadway, Disney, movie and video game soundtracks, pop music, and plenty of things your guests probably aren't expecting to hear from a flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, and bassoon.
With hundreds of pieces in our library, we love helping couples find music that actually means something to them. And if there's a particular song that's important to your story, ask us about it. Custom arrangements may be possible too.
