Weddings at Mt. Woodson Castle
Mt. Woodson Castle is one of those San Diego wedding venues that doesn't really feel like San Diego. Tucked into the hills of Ramona, the historic Amy Strong Castle is surrounded by huge trees, stonework, winding pathways, and mountain scenery that gives the entire property a secluded, almost storybook feeling.
We've performed weddings here before and are excited to be returning again in 2027. It's a particularly fun venue for live music because there are so many different settings around the property. Couples can hold their ceremony beneath the trees or with the historic castle as a backdrop, then move into the surrounding lawn and reception spaces as the celebration continues. The venue also offers the Great Hall for indoor celebrations.
And despite the name, this isn't a giant European-style castle dropped into the middle of Ramona. The original home was built in the early 1900s using stone and local materials, which gives it a much warmer, rustic character. It's a really unusual piece of San Diego history and a beautiful setting for a wedding.
Live Wedding Music at Mt. Woodson
The natural setting at Mt. Woodson is a great match for acoustic music. Our five-piece wind quintet features flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, and bassoon, giving us a full sound for an outdoor ceremony without needing to turn the space into a concert venue.
And this is definitely a venue where couples can have some fun with the music.
Along with traditional classical selections, our library includes movie and television themes, Broadway, jazz, Disney and Pixar, video game music, and instrumental arrangements of pop and rock favorites. A historic castle surrounded by trees also opens the door to some pretty great choices from fantasy films, adventure movies, and other soundtracks if that's your thing.
For cocktail hour, we can shift into a more relaxed mix while everyone explores the property, grabs a drink, and enjoys the scenery. Our smaller wind trio is also available for couples looking for something a little more intimate.
