Weddings at the San Diego Natural History Museum
Getting married in a museum is already pretty cool.
Getting married on a rooftop overlooking Balboa Park and then sending your guests inside to have cocktails among fossils, exhibits, and prehistoric creatures is even better.
We've performed at the San Diego Natural History Museum, better known these days as The Nat, for weddings, galas, and special events over the years. It's one of our favorite unique event spaces in Balboa Park, and one we'd love to get back to more often.

Weddings at The Nat
For weddings, the rooftop terrace is hard to beat. You get a beautiful outdoor ceremony overlooking Balboa Park, downtown San Diego, and the surrounding city, while still having the entire museum waiting downstairs.
After the ceremony, guests can head inside for cocktail hour among the exhibits while the wedding party takes photos around Balboa Park. From there, dinner and the reception can continue in the museum's larger event spaces.
It's a wedding venue where you really don't have to work very hard to give your guests something to talk about. There is, after all, a dinosaur nearby.

Live Music at the Natural History Museum
The Nat is a particularly fun venue for live music because the event can move through several completely different spaces.
We can welcome guests on the rooftop before a wedding ceremony, move inside for cocktail hour, or provide music as guests explore the museum during a reception.
Our wind quintet is also a natural fit for the setting. We perform everything from classical and jazz to Broadway, Disney, movie and video game soundtracks, pop, rock, and plenty of music people don't necessarily expect to hear from a flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, and bassoon.
And a museum gives us plenty of opportunities to get creative with the playlist.

We've also performed here for larger special events, and this is the kind of venue where live music can add something without taking over the room. Guests can arrive to live music, grab a drink, explore the exhibits, talk with each other, and actually enjoy the atmosphere.
That makes our quintet or smaller ensembles a great fit for nonprofit galas, donor events, corporate receptions, holiday parties, conferences, museum programs, and other private events throughout the building.
We've performed at museums and cultural spaces throughout San Diego, and they're some of our favorite places to play. There's something particularly fun about putting live musicians into a space people normally associate with exhibits and turning the whole building into an event.
