I love wedding season! In San Diego, that's almost year round, but we certainly do get a bit of a break during the later winter months, when there aren't as many destination weddings or the fine sunny weather we're known for. Every year, though, I have to mentally prepare for all of the fun events the Left Coast Quintet and Trio are going to be hired for. San Diego Wedding Musician Calendar So far, we have 6 upcoming weddings, and I'm guessing we'll probably triple that by the end of the summer. We aren't a huge company with multiple weddings each weekend, and we like that. It adds more of a personal touch for the clients we work with, allows us to work on other projects, and be able to be with our families on our time off from the regular weekday jobs most of us have. Preparing Wedding Music Arrangements To get ready for the season, I actually go into a bit of research mode. Yes, many of the songs that we play are standards year after year, or even century after century for some of the classical favorites like Pachelbel, Bach, Handel, Mozart, etc. But there are always new songs that become favorites, new compositions to find for quintet, or new arrangements for the trio. We have a massive library of music, that spans classical, pop, jazz, swing, movies, but there is no harm in growing it even more, adding custom requests from brides that we've never done before, and I like being ahead of the curve with offering unique music.
