Talk about a beautiful location to have a wedding! We performed today at the Coronado Island Marriott Resort, right on their lawn overlooking the San Diego Bay and downtown San Diego. It was really beautiful, a small and intimate ceremony with our favorite officiant, Bethel Nathan! We started performing for prelude while guests arrived and took their seats, about thirty minutes of music with accompanying laughter of small children running around the lawns and playing with each other. Honestly it was a small concert for us, and the guests really enjoyed the music! We performed Rainbow Connection from the Muppets, a few pieces from Beauty and the Beast, When You Wish Upon a Star from Pinocchio, Storybook Love from the Princess Bride, Sound of Music, and more. Those of you who have been to Coronado know the amazing views, and the Marriott takes full advantage, the wedding ceremony had this spectacular view in the background of downtown San Diego and the bay. It's right above the pedestrian and bike path, which is a little bit lower in elevation so you don't really see people walking by, but sitting on the side where we set up, we were able to hear many people passing by during the ceremony who were giving their well wishes! The couple were so sweet - and it was enjoyable to chat with them before and after the ceremony. When you've worked with people for months on the planning and preparation of their wedding, it is awesome to finally get to meet them and congratulate them in person on their wedding day. These two picked some great music for the wedding ceremony too - we did Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley for the bridesmaids, the bride walked down to music from Disney's Tangled, we had some background music during the sand ceremony of You've Got a Friend in Me from Toy Story, and the recessional was We Don't Talk About Bruno from Encanto! After the wedding ceremony, we all walked over to Il Fornaio restaurant, and the quintet performed for the reception while guests celebrated. We continued with some amazing music here, performing Besame Mucho, Moonlight Serenade, The Pink Panther theme, music from Moana and Frozen, some Elton John, Beatles, and more. It was great to be able to interact with guests, chat with them a bit about the music we were performing, and provide some entertaining background music while they mingled.
As always, an enjoyable evening for our quintet and we are always looking forward to the next celebration! Big thanks to Jim George (clarinet) and Sierra Johnson (flute) for joining RB, Dan, and Jenny tonight!
